Congratulations to Jair Hernandez, Class of 2012!!! He was honored at M.O. Campbell building during the 2011-12 Outstanding Career and Technology Senior Awards. Jair is the first senior from Victory Early College to receive this distinction! Way to go, Mr. Jair Hernandez!

Angelica Richardson, a Victory Early College senior, recently received confirmation of her selection as one of the 1,000 Gates Millennium Scholars for the GMS Class of 2012. She is the first student to receive this well-renowned scholarship from Victory Early College, a fairly new dual-curriculum high school which gives the students the opportunity to earn college credit and a high school diploma simultaneously. Her accomplishment is especially notable in context of the more than 24,000 students from across the United States applied, making this year’s the largest and most competitive group of candidates in the program’s history.  As a Gates Millennium Scholar, GMS funds are available for Angelica to attend any U.S. located, accredited college or university of her choice.  In addition, if she pursues graduate studies in the fields of Computer Science, Education, Engineering, Library Science, Mathematics, Public Health or Science, she may be eligible for GMS fellowship funding for her education through the master’s and doctoral levels. Angelica joins the community of Gates Scholars as this distinct honor distinguishes her as a Leader for America’s Future and role model for a bright Victory Early College student body. Angelica is graduating with honors for a Distinguished Diploma and an Associates of Arts degree. She is also attending Howard University in the fall of 2012 and majoring in pre-medicine studies.
