The Librarian for MacArthur is:

Connie Barber

Our goal for MacArthur students is to create a foundation for lifelong learning by helping our students acquire the skills they will need to find and use information in a world of constantly changing information needs. The student who is information literate accesses information efficiently, evaluates information critically, and competently.

The MacArthur library and all Aldine libraries may be accessed through the Horizon Information Portal (HIP) from the Aldine webpage:
www.aldine.k12.tx.us/

Available Materials:

The LMC has a variety of materials available for student use. We have books for pleasure reading, books for research, reference materials, SIRS, the Internet, databases, newspapers, and current magazines.

Printing:

Students may print from the computers in the LMC computer lab.

Printing is available in black and white and in color.

A copy machine is available for $.10 a copy.

Overdue Notices:

Overdue notices are issued biweekly. The notice always shows the amount owed, plus the price of the book if it is not returned. If books are not returned in a timely manner, we will send letters home and call home in an effort to retrieve wayward books. A book drop is located outside the LMC for student convenience. Please return books when due or renew them for an additional two weeks if more reading time is necessary

The library assistant is:

P. Franks

Library Hours:

Before School: 6:50 a.m.
During Lunch: pass is needed from your teacher.

Expectations:

The LMC is a place to learn, to read, and to extend your knowledge. Please be considerate of others who are trying to do research, to concentrate.

Shhhh....talk quietly.

Book Check Out:

Students may check out three books for two weeks. Students are charged $.10 a day for overdue books and may not check out books until all fines are resolved. Library fines will follow students from one Aldine campus to another; all fines should be taken care of promptly.

Scanning:

Scanning is available from the scanner in the computer lab. All scanning must be school related.

Internet Access:

The Aldine Web Page provides access to research databases, search engines, and much more through the "Students" link. Take time to explore the links to Internet database resources.

The Internet is accessible from the computers in the LMC computer lab; however, students must have an Internet sticker on their student ID to use this resource. Students must sign in when entering the lab and access only acceptable sites.
