Electronic Devices and Cellular Telephones
Students are prohibited from possessing paging devices, cellular phones, or other electronic devices while on school property during school hours.
School district personnel will confiscate the paging device or cellular telephone and dispose of the paging
device or cellular telephone after having provided the student's parents and the company whose name and address or telephone number appear on the device, 30 days prior notice of its intent to dispose of that device. The notice shall include the serial number of the device or cellular telephone and may be made by telephone, telegraph, or in writing.
The owner of the device or cellular telephone, or the student's parent may recover the device or cellular
telephone within the 30 day notice period and will be assessed a $15.00 fee for its release payable in advance. The device or cellular telephone will be held at the school for release upon payment of the fee.
"Paging device" means a telecommunication's device that emits an audible signal, vibrates, displays a
message, or otherwise summons or delivers a communication to the possessor. A cellular telephone” is a portable, cordless communication device that receives and delivers communication.
The state requires an incident report for the presence or use of any cell phone during state testing. The consequence for this offense will be an invalid test and the student will not receive a score.
