Additional Information
Escamilla Intermediate School is a 5th and 6th grade campus in the Aldine Independent School District in Houston, Texas.

Escamilla Intermediate is an exciting place to learn. We have a highly motivated faculty whose goal is to provide the best educational experience for each student. This can only be achieved by school, parents, and community working together to make a difference. We must be a community of learners.

Students representing Escamilla Intermediate School have consistently placed among top award winners competing in the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Art Show. Students are encouraged to develop their fine arts talents by participating in the Escamilla Band and Choir which are among the best in the district. Our students compete in History and Science Fair. We also have fifth and sixth grade Destination Imagination teams.

Our Escamilla pride is reflected in all with which our students are involved. We are producing the nation's best.

Students may enter the building at 7:45 am, and dismissal is at 3:50. At 8:00 am, the students may eat breakfast in the cafeteria and then go to their morning room. The instructional day consists of Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies, and Electives. Electives are Music, and PE for 5th grade. 6th graders may have Band, Choir, Music, Art, PE, and Spanish. Students needing extra assistance in Math and Reading can receive that help with Math and Reading Labs as elective classes.

The philosophy of education that best describes our school is "A Community of Learners." Our approach to education is meeting the needs of the whole child. Our goals include:

· Closing the achievement gap between economically disadvantaged students.

· Developing students' self-esteem.

· Promoting continuous improvement of technological skills.

· Providing for experiences in fine arts.

· Reviewing and assessing annually all curriculum programs and guides.
